Earlier this week we visited Nicosia, Cyprus and held a number of meetings with key policy makers, government officials and prominent domestic analysts. Our discussions primarily focused on the outlook of the Cypriot economy, the upcoming presidential election and the prospect of reaching a final agreement with the EC/ECB/IMF troika of official lenders on a sovereign bailout package. In this note we highlight some of the main issues discussed during our trip and provide a brief assessment of the domestic political and economic outlook going forward.
