New distinguished bankers will strengthen the presence of EFG Eurobank Ergasias in the region of Southeastern Europe. Mr. George Michelis and Mr. Anthony Hassiotis are appointed as CEOs at Banc Post Romania and at Post Bank Bulgaria respectively.
The presence of new executives at the top positions of the two subsidiary banks of EFG Eurobank Ergasias, in Romania and Bulgaria will contribute in strengthening the leading position of these two banks and will promote the strategic goals of EFG Eurobank Ergasias Group in Southeastern Europe.
Mr. George Michelis has served as the General Manager of Commercial Bank of Greece (1989-1990 and 1996-2004) and Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors since July 2000.
He was one of the founding members and Executive Vice President of Egnatia Bank (1990-1994). Earlier in his career he also worked as Business Consultant as well as Operations Manager at Onasio Heartsurgery Center. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, a Master of Arts in Economics from Boston College of Chestnut Hill and a Doctorate of Philosophy, in Economics, from Northeastern University of Boston.
Mr. Anthony Hassiotis, was Chairman and CEO of the General Bank of Greece since 2002, maintaining the Chairman’s position after the sale of the bank to Société Généralé. In 2001, he held the positions of Deputy Governor and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Greece. In 1999, he served as Country Manager of Barclays Bank in Greece. Since 1982 and for 17 consecutive years, he was employed as an executive in key positions of Citibank in various countries (U.S.A., Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, Greece). He has also served as Senior Executive at Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh, U.S.A. and in London. He holds a Master of International Management in Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Arizona University, U.S.A. He has also studied at City University Business School in London and at the University of Florence.
