The sponsorship programme, “The Great Moment for Education”, which was launched by Eurobank EFG in 2003, represents a major educational initiative that further enhances the group’s already strong sponsoring activity in the field of Education, in addition to the fields of Culture, Environment and Sports.
The main aim of this programme is to support and reward school students in their “struggle” for knowledge. Eurobank EFG wishes in this way to make a valuable contribution to the community in which it operates by helping the young generation achieve its high objectives.

The Deputy Minister for Education and Religion, Mr. Spyros Taliadouros and many prominent members of the country’s economic and social life honoured with their presence the event that was moderated by journalist Phoevos Karzis.
In his address, the Deputy Minister for Education and Religion Mr. Spyros Taliadouroscongratulated Eurobank EFG for its commendable initiative regarding education and its broader sponsoring activity in the fields of Culture, Sports and Environment. “Such initiatives, the Deputy Minister noted, reveal the corporations’ social sensitivity and benefit the community as a whole”. He also congratulated the award-winners and their schools, teachers and parents, stressing that this distinction promotes creative competition and meritocracy, values that underpin social and cultural progress in any system of education. Mr. Taliadouros observed that, in the context of our evolving modern society, our country’s education system is also changing, with investments in facilities and new technologies, with the view to achieving a higher level of learning. An important example is the provision of computers by the Ministry of Education to junior high school pupils. “The knowledge-based society is the trend for the future and the Ministry’s policy aims at lifelong learning. Within this framework, rewarding quality and meritocracy are the instruments for economic growth, prosperity, a strong democracy and cultural autonomy” Mr. Taliadouros concluded.
Eurobank EFG General Manager Mr. Michalis Vlastarakis referred to the Bank’s philosophy concerning the Group’s social contribution with sponsorships in the field of Education, Culture and Sports. He stressed that, “responding to the challenges of the new era, our Bank has chosen to encourage our youth to focus on knowledge and progress, by establishing a new institution through “The Great Moment for Education” programme”. He then went on to say that “at a time when many of the traditional values, which underpinned the development of our societies are being questioned, we must recognize and reward the best, those who work hardest and who invest actively in learning and culture”. “The Great Moment for Education” programme is part of the Eurobank EFG Group’s broader social contribution, which includes major sponsorship programmes in the fields of Culture, Sports and Education Mr. Vlastarakis noted, emphasising the fact that Eurobank EFG Group’s primary and most important social service is the creation of new
