The new biodegradable Debit Mastercard belongs to the new generation of Eurobank cards, with modern vertical design. Use your debit card to shop, withdraw or deposit money, and make payments and cash transfers. You may also use it to build up your tax deductions, make contactless transactions and save money through the €pistrofi loyalty programme.
Protecting the environment
For the first time in Greece, Eurobank is issuing biodegradable cards. One of these is the Debit Mastercard.
They are made of polylactic acid (PLA), a petroleum-free, non-toxic plastic substitute. Less energy is consumed and significantly less greenhouse gases are emitted to produce this material.
When they expire, the new Eurobank debit cards can be recycled or composted.
The new material we use for the new Eurobank biodegradable cards is just as durable as the material in the previous plastic cards.
We are putting into action our commitment to protect the environment and promote sustainability.
Innovative vertical design
The new generation Eurobank debit cards have a modern vertical design.
For the first time ever, we are bridging the physical and the digital, offering you the same experience in your transactions with your card:
- In its physical form, when you shop or pay at a POS terminal.
- In its digital form through the Eurobank Wallet.
We have made the edge of all our new debit cards red.
This makes it easier to find in your wallet.
All the details on the new generation Eurobank debit cards are printed on the back of the card.
This is the latest trend in card design worldwide. We applied these to give you a modern card, both in terms of functionality and look.
Withdrawals in Greece and abroad
Use your Debit Mastercard to withdraw money from:
- Our ATMs.
- ATMs at other banks, through the DIAS network.
- ATMs with the Mastercard logo in Greece and abroad.
Shop online or in-store
Your Debit Mastercard is accepted at all points of sale with the Mastercard logo in Greece and abroad. Use it when you:
- Shop at supermarkets and petrol stations.
- Shop online and in-store.
- Go out to restaurants, cinemas and theatres.
Many of the payments you make with your debit card build up your tax deductions.
Deposits and money transfers
At our ATMs you may deposit cash in your account or transfer money to other accounts.
Your Debit Mastercard is linked to the €pistrofi loyalty programme. When you use your card at our partner retailers, you save money. Next time you shop, redeem your cashback rewards and save money from expenses you would make anyway, as they meet actual needs.
At supermarkets and petrol stations, for your daily shopping and transport expenses.
At department stores and retail shops for houseware, clothing, shoes and accessories that you want.
Communication and IT expenses
At mobile and IT shops for your high-tech goods: devices, peripherals, office supplies and consumables that you need.
Travel and recreation
Hotels, ferries, travel agencies and restaurants for your accommodation, tickets and food.
More than 8,500 partner retailers have joined our €pistrofi loyalty programme in Greece. Every partner retailer decides on their own cashback offer.
Salaried employees, pensioners and farmers
If you are a salaried employee, a pensioner up to 70 years old or a farmer, you can build up your tax deductions when you shop or pay with your Debit Mastercard.
Automatic expense calculator
Find out easily the total expenses you have built up using your Debit Mastercard or other Eurobank cards or through your online transactions.
The expense calculator automatically adds together all the transactions that build up your tax deductions: e.g. online payments, and online or in-store shopping.
Log in to your Eurobank Mobile App or your e-Banking to view your expenses up to that point:
- Eurobank Mobile App > Quickview
- e-Banking > Tax deduction calculator > SEE all
Debit Mastercard supports contactless transactions. Pay faster for your coffee, supermarket shopping or other small expenses.
Use your card at points of sale with a POS terminal for contactless transactions. You don’t need to enter your PIN or sign for amounts up to €50. Your card never leaves your hands.
You can get a digital version of your Debit Mastercard in the Eurobank Wallet, provided you have an Android 5+ mobile phone. This way, you can carry out contactless transactions at POS terminals using your mobile phone, without having to carry your actual card.
Transactions over the phone
Use your debit card number and your EuroPhone Banking PIN to carry out transactions very fast over the phone:
- Pay for your bills and taxes.
- Transfer money from one account to another.
- Transfer money in Greece or abroad.

Up-to-date information on your mobile
Use your Eurobank Mobile App and see the payments you’ve made with your debit card that build up your tax deductions.
Use the €pistrofi app to see how many euros you have earned through your debit card from the €pistrofi loyalty programme. The map helps you locate partner retailers where you may redeem your euros using your debit card.
Chip & PIN technology
Chip & PIN technology secures your in-store transactions. Your transaction is completed when you enter your card PIN.
Change your card PIN regularly at one of our ATMs for even better security.
Strong customer authentication
When carrying out transactions online with your debit card, you are authenticated with strong customer authentication:
- Through the Eurobank Mobile App.
- With the One-Time Password (OTP) you receive by SMS on the mobile you registered when signing up to e-Banking.
This ensures that the transactions are carried out by you, reducing the risk of fraud.
It is easy and secure to manage the settings of your debit card with Cards Control.
- Freeze/Unfreeze your card temporarily if you are not sure whether you have misplaced it, rather than cancelling it right away. The temporary freeze does not allow you to withdraw cash at ATMs or shop online or in-store.
- Switch on/off the purchase option for certain transactions using your card: purchases only in-store or online, purchases in Greece and/or abroad.
- Switch on/off the cash withdrawal option at ATMs.
- Change the daily cash withdrawal limit.
Get updates on your debit card at any time:
- Over the phone through EuroPhone Banking.
- From your desktop through e-Banking.
- From your mobile through the Eurobank Mobile App.
- At our ATMs.
Monitor any activity on your debit card or the balance on your linked account.
Yes. Come to one of our branches and choose which accounts you want to link to your debit card. Set one of them as your primary account.
- When you make payments with your debit card, your primary account is charged.
- When you carry out any transaction at an ATM, you have access to both accounts. You choose which one you want to charge.
Yes, it is absolutely safe. Contactless transactions use Chip & PIN technology. They are carried out according to security regulations set by international organisations.
Your card never leaves your hands.
No. For anybody to use your card and gain access to your account, they must know its PIN.
Only you should know your card PIN. You must memorise it and never write it down.
If you’re not sure whether you’ve lost your card, you can freeze it temporarily using Cards Control through the Eurobank Mobile App or your e-Banking, rather than cancelling it right away. This way no one can use it to withdraw cash at ATMs or shop online or in-store. You can unfreeze it at any time as soon as you find it.
If you can’t find your card, call EuroPhone Banking immediately to notify us of the loss and cancel the card:
I am not receiving a printed statement with my card transaction history. How do I get this information?
Printed statements with the transaction history of debit cards are no longer sent out by post. Our aim is to limit the impact of our operations on the environment and protect your personal data.
You can receive electronic copies through e-Statements. The electronic files are PDFs. You can store them on your computer and retrieve them at any time.
Check out how you can receive e-Statements online.
In addition, you can track your card activity easily, quickly and securely through e-Baking or the Eurobank Mobile App.
The same way you use any other Eurobank card at an ATM or POS terminal. You can carry out the same transactions as your previous card: shop, withdraw or deposit money, and make payments and cash transfers.
The new vertical design does not change the way the new Debit Mastercard works. However, it offers the same user experience in your transactions, whether you use the actual card when paying at a POS terminal or its digital form when you pay with the Eurobank Wallet.
