In the context of its sponsoring program, “A GREAT MOMENT FOR ΑΤHLETICS”, EFG Eurobank has resumed its collaboration with the two Olympic gold medallists Sophia Bekatorou and Emilia Tsoulfa and is launching a new joint initiative under the title “EXPERIENCE SAILING”.
In the context of its sponsoring program, “A GREAT MOMENT FOR ΑΤHLETICS”, EFG Eurobank has resumed its collaboration with the two Olympic gold medallists Sophia Bekatorou and Emilia Tsoulfa and is launching a new joint initiative under the title “EXPERIENCE SAILING”. The objective of this initiative is to encourage young children to become familiar with the sport of sailing. The goal of the two gold medallists is to make sailing a popular sport among young people by sharing with them their love for the sea and their valuable knowledge and experience. The two Olympic gold medallists will be visiting yacht clubs in different Greek cities in the context of the “EXPERIENCE SAILING” initiative.
Emilia and Sophia will begin their campaign from the island of Myconos on August 14, on the occasion of their participation in the “Dream Race Myconos” regatta. The “EXPERIENCE SAILING” initiative will continue in September with visits to yacht clubs in Crete, Larisa, Volos, Alexandroupolis, Katerini, Thessaloniki and Attica in November.
EFG Eurobank’s General Manager, Michalis Vlastarakis, during an event at “Aigli” Zappeion (27/06/2005), stated that the Bank, which is the two athletes’ exclusive sponsor of the two athletes since 2001, “feels the obligation to keep alive the messages that the two Golden Girls have sent to Greek society, for it believes that the ethics, the perseverance and the values that the two athletes have demonstrated on their difficult course to the top are an example to be followed and should not be consumed in the success and the thrill of the moment we all experienced in August 2004. They still have a lot to offer”.
Emilia Tsoulfa and Sophia Bekatorou spoke next and expressed their joy and thanks to EFG Eurobank for this real opportunity to continue their sports activity, while offering at the same time their knowledge and experience to the young generation. “To make our dreams come true”, said Emilia Tsoulfa “ takes faith, hard work, dedication, perseverance and passion. These values and ideals of sports are those of the Bank and this is why we want to impart them to young people together. It is very important that the Bank’s people are supporting and expanding our collaboration beyond the field of competition to something different and very essential like our new initiative “EXPERIENCE SAILING”. Sophia Bekatorou underlined the fact that “striving for excellence is always rewarded” stressing that “truly there is no greater satisfaction for an athlete than to be able, based on his/her own preparation and the difficulties he/she encounters, to inspire young people in setting objectives, drawing strength and persisting with passion and faith in whatever they choose to do”.
