“Live Sailing” The Olympic Gold Medalists Sofia Bekatorou & Emilia Tsoulfa are visiting Paros Island.

Olympic Gold Medalists Sofia Bekatorou and Emilia Tsoulfa continue in 2006 their visits and presentations at yachting clubs within the framework of “Live Sailing” programme, initiated in 2005.  Last year, the Olympic gold medalists of sailing made six successful visits to yachting clubs in an equivalent number of Greek cities.

The fifth visit of 2006 took place on Saturday, November 11, in cooperation with the Paros Yachting Club, at the facilities of the Pandrossos Hotel at Parikia on the island of Paros. The purpose of the visit is to inform and attract to sailing young people who love sports and the sea.

The “Live Sailing” programme is a Eurobank EFG initiative implemented with the contribution of the two Olympic gold medalists. The initiative includes events in yachting club facilities throughout Greece. The aim of the two Olympic gold medalists is to promote sailing among young people and make them share their love for the sea, as well as their valuable experience and knowledge.

More than 50 children, from 7 to 15 years, were present at the event held in Paros and they had the opportunity to share with Sofia and Emilia the secrets of sailing, to be introduced to the joys of the sport and to get a feeling of rigged “Optimist” boats. For all young, budding sailors, this “Live Sailing” event was a unique opportunity to learn  about the sport.
