Health and Safety, certification under the OHSAS 18001 and ΕLΟΤ 1801

Eurobank EFG has successfully completed its certification under the OHSAS 18001 and ΕLΟΤ 1801 Health and Safety standards for all its branches.

Eurobank EFG is the first bank in Greece and the third worldwide to obtain certification in this sector. The certification was given by the leading Certification Organization TUV AUSTRIA,after extensive inspections at the Bank’s branches.

The certification confirms the successful and effective operation of the Health and Safety at Work Management System adopted by the Bank, in conformity with the latest international standards.

Health and safety at work constitute an important strategic choice for Eurobank EFG in the context of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. The implementation of this Management System, which is constantly enriched by means of new initiatives and actions, has brought multiple benefits to the Bank and its people, as well as to the community at large.

The objective is to safeguard the best health and safety conditions for the staff and to improve continually the Bank’s working environment.

All necessary measures are therefore taken, as required by Greek and EU legislation, with the view to preventing any accidents and occupational diseases and guaranteeing the health and safety of the Bank’s personnel, clients, visitors and external contributors.

The Bank is also cooperating in this field with major organizations such as the Hellenic Health and Safety Institute, the Hellenic Red Cross, etc. The creation and operation of a “Blood Bank”, in cooperation with the “Amalia Fleming” Hospital to meet the needs of personnel and their families, is an important aspect of the comprehensive staff protection system.

Reference should also be made to the operation of fully equipped medical clinics for staff members and the availability of specialized programmes aimed at people with “special abilities”, to allow them to work with the least possible effects on their health. At the same time, Occupational Risk Assessment Studies are conducted for all Bank premises and first aid courses, safety, accident prevention and fire drills are held regularly.

To prevent risk situations, all branch offices are continuously inspected by specially trained Safety Officers; in addition, the Bank’s occupational doctors will carry out preventive tests in order to monitor the health of staff members.
