What should I look out for?

Eurobank takes all the necessary measures that are known today in computer science in order to ensure the security of your transactions through the e-Banking service. In order to achieve this however, certain measures are also required on your part, such as by way of example:

Ensuring the confidentiality of your personal data

A) The passwords used to log into the e-Banking service are strictly personal and should under no condition be disclosed to third parties. Eurobank shall not request their disclosure for any reason and in any way whatsoever. Should you receive a misleading e-mail or should an unusual popup window appear requesting the entry of data, etc. it is necessary that you report the incident to us immediately by contacting 801 111 1144 or +30 210-9555000, when calling from a mobile telephone or abroad.

B) It is best to memorise your personal passwords instead of keeping them written down so as to avoid the risk of theft.

C) Your personal passwords should be used exclusively to log into the Bank’s e-Banking service and should not be used on other insecure internet websites; you are also advised to change your passwords at regular intervals.

Verifying the website on which you enter your personal passwords

Before entering your personal passwords on the Bank’s website it is necessary to check the site’s address, as it is possible that the website you have visited is a copy of the Bank’s actual website and has been created with the intention of misleading users and obtaining their personal passwords. The best ways to verify the identity of a website are the following:
A) By typing in the website’s address yourselves instead of using an external link.

B) By looking for and identifying the lock icon () that appears on the Bank’s secure web pages. When selecting the icon a window should pop up on your screen confirming that you are visiting the secure pages of our Bank.

Protecting your computer

Ill-intentioned actions to crack personal passwords are usually aimed at users who do not take the necessary measures to protect their computers. The below protection measures have been stated by way of example:

A) Improving and updating the security parameters of your computer and operating system. Instructions on how to update your computer's security parameters can be found on the Microsoft website.

B) Installing programmes that protect your computer against viruses. The constant occurrence of new and advanced viruses makes it necessary to frequently renew the programmes that fight them.

C) Be careful when accessing the e-Banking service from other computers (e.g. at airports, internet cafés, etc.). Once you gain access to the Eurobank website (www.eurobank.gr) from such computers, make sure that you have not saved your personal data (e.g. card number) and that you have not left any traces of your actions, such as the Bank's address for example. Also, if you have carried out a transaction, make sure to delete your digital certificate from the computer.
